The poets and attendees also held debates aimed at creating peace and abstinence from drugs and sexual relationships at young ages which has immensely contributed towards the number of child marriages, STI’s and unwanted pregnancies.
Ngonidzashe Paradza, one of the slam organisers said the edition was aimed at having youth empowerment dialogues, national development projects, and abstinence from drugs and sexual activities.
“We are having this slam amid serious political turmoil which has seen some taking to the streets; we are however, advocating for youth indabas as this one where we discuss and share ideas which can shape our future. We want to empower other youths through such initiatives and we will be having another slam soon,” said Paradza.
One of the poets and Nzwimabwe poetry slam organiser Chris Newton Vembo applauded the poets and revellers for attending and urged them to find amicable ways of solving conflict rather than indulge in violence which will not benefit anyone.
