“Minister Chadzamira will be the guest of honour during the prize giving ceremony of the Muzenda Sports Festival which is held in honour of our national hero and Soul of the Nation who was a keen golfer himself,” said Mashingaidze.
When the festival started five years ago it was only a golf tournament involving juniors from disadvantaged backgrounds as well and golf kits were donated to various schools from Masvingo City to encourage the playing of golf at junior level.
The two day festival now has three sporting disciplines including cricket and tennis where junior players will be drawn from as far as Mutare and Harare.
“We are expecting 50 to 70 kids for the tennis tournament which will be played in singles and starting on Friday through to Saturday,” said Privy Farisai the Masvingo Inspiration Tennis Accademy Club junior tennis coach.
The festival is sponsored by the Simon Muzenda Foundation headed by Captain Vitalis Muzenda the first born to the late liberation icon.
