    Zvishavane pastor in custody over US$11 000 fraud

    ZVISHAVANE - Christopher Mudawarima (36) a pastor with Fountain of Life Ministry has been remanded in custody on 12 counts of fraud involving US$11 000.
    The State alleges that from October 23, 2015 to February 11, 2016, Mudawarima misrepresented to 12 different clients. He said that he was well connected with the administrator at Marondera School of Nursing, various teachers’ colleges and loan companies and he was also into importation of motor vehicles.
    He then allegedly made the complainants to pay monies which amounted to US$11 464 some of which was paid through his Ecocash number registered in the name of Webster Mwashita. However the accused person did not fulfil the promises he made thereby defrauding the complainants of their money.
    Juanita Ndhlovu who was duped of US$430 wanted to enrol at Mutoko Hospital, Password Chilanda allegedly lost US$1 020 meant for purchasing and registration of a motor vehicle, Nelly Dhliwayo lost $1 234, Allan Totani was duped $1700, Richard Mugandani was duped $922,Edwin Tagwirei $960,Winnie Charashike $775, Goddard Moyo $2182, Brenda Nyaguze was duped $1 275. Yeukai charumbira and lastly Anthony Mandizvidza were also duped.
    A report to the Police led to the arrest of the accused and on March 23 2016 a print out from the phone was retrieved. The accused allegedly used the proceeds to acquire two vehicles.
    He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody to August 15 2019.
