CHIREDZI – Triangle United FC has proved to be a force to reckon with after beating champions FC Platinum 2-0 at Gibbo stadium last Sunday.
The team has stretched its unbeaten streak to 11games in the league and morale is at peak as the team leaves this Wednesday for Bujumbura in Burundi to play its away game against Rukinzo FC at the weekend.
Last weekend’s game was a clash of the champions as both teams are representing Zimbabwe in the African safari with FC Platinum  fighting it out in the Confederation of African Football (CAF)  Champions League while Sugar Sugar Boys as Triangle is fondly known is taking part in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Collins Dhuwa scored from an Allan Tavarwisa assist after 15 minutes of play and Praise Tonha hit the net from a well taken free kick at the 19th minute to silence Norman Mapeza`s flamboyant team. New signing Allan Tavarwisa played his first home game and supporters were impressed by his performance.
Meanwhile the fundraising dinner held at Triangle Country Club on Saturday has raised $55 000. The money is to support the team’s campaign in the African Safari.
Moonlight Funeral Assurance Company bought a table for $3 500 and donated an additional $2 500 to the club. Other companies which bought tables are Nyaradzo Funeral Assurance Company, CBZ, ZB Bank, Protective Clothing, Tongaat Hullet, Halship Investments, Croco Motors, Gain Cash and Carry, ZIFA Eastern Region, Farmware, Farmec, DDH and M, Pro Bottlers, PPE Supplies and BOC Gases. Over $3500 was also raised on auctioning of Triangle FC`s memorabilia.
Tongaat Hullet Human Resources Director Freddy Nyangwe thanked all corporates which financially supported the team and said Tongaat will also ensure that the team is supported to the hilt in its international campaign.
Club Chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze said the team will not let its supporters and management down as they embark on their journey to Burundi. He said their aim is to reach the last level of the competitions since the team is currently united towards that cause.
