Petty thief terrorises Beitbridge school pupils

TWO NATIONS EDITOR – A petty thief is causing headaches for Beitbridge residents employing tricks to steal from school kids and adults alike.
Several school children have lost cell phones to the alleged thief who lures them purporting that he would install games into their gadgets.
He would leave pupils outside and enter a house from which he is supposed to do the installation of the games then disappear through the back.
Beitbridge ZRP District Officer Commanding (Dispol) Chief Superintendent Tichaona Nyongo said he has not received any reports on the matter.
“My son and other kids from St Joseph Primary lost phones. There is this grown up man with a baby face who deceives kids. He tells them that he has a lot of games and can install some of them in their phones for free. He asks for the phone to go and load the games, goes to a house which has an escape outlet at the back and disappears with the gadget. The guy was once arrested but it seems he is on the prowl again,” said Farai Nengomasha.
In another case, the suspect took R80 from an elderly female vegetable vendor. He said that he had R100 at home which he would bring back to the vendor and the difference was for vegetables.
He allegedly lied to the woman about the house where he stayed.
“He would also get into a home and ask for water to drink, meanwhile he will snatch anything valuable lying around from unsuspecting residents and then disappear,” said a resident.
“The guy lied to me that he had four petrol containers at Mashakada Night Club and I gave him R800. We got to Kalahari Night Club where he was supposed to collect them. He left me sitting in the car and disappeared,” said another disgruntled resident.#Masvingo Mirror#
