    Neguve Primary hosts Mushayamunda Trust Tournament

    It was a hive activity at Neguve Primary School from Odzi village in Bikita South as they hosted the Mushayamunda Christian Development Trust (MCDT) tournament with nine schools taking part.
    The tournament which has become a permanent feature in the area is sponsored by USA based Dereck Mushayamunda and wife, Yvonne as part of community social responsibility as well as spreading the word of God.
    The duos were accompanied by their two kids Simbarashe and Fadzai and 10 other Americans.
    Besides the hosts Neguve the other primary schools that participated were Mukazi, Mashoko, Mukanga, Chingonono, Chiremwaremwa, Chitiyo, Chamburukira and Tapudzai.
    The tournament which ran under the theme God will lead to glory if we endure (Psalms 74:24) and the motto: “Our help comes from the Lord” was coordinated by Joseph Vhengere from Magocha Primary School.
    The schools competed in four disciplines namely soccer, basketball, netball, and volleyball which had both girls and boys playing together.
     Mukanga Primary dismissed the hosts 0-1 in the finals to walk away the winners and on third position was Tapudzai who beat Manhenga in the play offs.
    In netball Manhenga beat Gava in the finals with Neguve coming third after getting the better of Chitiyo in the play offs.
    Mukazi Primary scooped gold in volleyball followed by Mashoko, Mukanga on third position and Chitiyo settled for the fourth position.
    Chiremwaremwa ruled the roost in basketball which saw only five teams competing with Chamburukira coming second while Mashoko was on third position.
    For their efforts the winning teams walked away with trophies, sports attire, balls, chalks and pens courtesy of MCDT.
    After the games Mushayamunda handed over a 5000L Jojo tank worth $5 600.
    “We bought you another tank in order to provide you with enough safe water for the school needs,” said Mushayamunda.
    The headmistress Mrs Energy Nguwi expressed gratitude to MCDT for the hand of help to the school and said this will help the school grow greens as the tanks would complement two old ones that they were using for both the school and staff.
    The following day which a Sunday the team held a church service at Mushayamunda Church of Christ village church where they donated a bag of maize meal to each person who attended.
    All the women received jewellery and those with ailments were attended to and were given tablets while others got reading glasses.
    On the third day, July 23, the team officially handed over a classroom block which they built at Manhenga Primary School and the event was attended by district schools inspector identified as, Nyangwe, Hungwe, Mangobe, Nyabanga, district development officer Mr Bernard Hadzirabwi.
