    MASVINGO -
Masvingo City Council has gone to court to seek a peace order against an allegedly nagging pensioner.
The matter between Council and Elizabeth Manavira is being heard today (July 9, 2019) at the Masvingo Magistrates Court.
Manavira had allegedly been going to the local authority demanding to see senior officials over increases to her pension earnings. The court documents say that council was at one time forced to call its municipal police to remove Manavira.
Manavira who spoke to The Mirror however claimed that workers were being ill-treated at council and she insisted that pensioners must be given increases to their earnings.
She alleged that treatment was different between managerial employees and ordinary workers and demanded for that to be addressed.
However, in its papers to court, Council says that Manavira has become such a nuisance that she was budging into offices of senior managers without any appointment. She is also said to be threatening physical harm.
Manavira who resides in Hillside worked as a council street cleaner from 2003-2011.
Council is being represented by Saratoga and Makausi Law Chambers.
Manavira however, claimed that she only inquired about pensioner’s compensation.
