    Chikomba RDC chief security jailed 2 ½ years

    CHIVHU - The head of security at Chikomba Rural District Council (RDC), Lameck Charera (44) has been slapped with a 30 months jail term after he was found guilty of defrauding his employer.
    Magistrate Henry Sande of Chivhu suspended six months of the sentence for five years on condition of good behavior while a further six months was suspended on condition that Charera restitutes Chikomba RDC of the sum of $623 on or before August 31 2019.
    His workmates Winnety Mubaiwa (54), Joshua Mabika (29) were found not guilty and acquitted of theft.
    The State said that on February 19, 2019 the three teamed up and went to Rwodzi Store, Masasa Business Centre and received the sum of $100 which was not handed over to the Revenue Office. On February 22, 2019 the three went to Makambe Hipo Store, Chivhu and received $100 but did not surrender the money to the employer. They repeated the same with TN Motor Spares and KCI Microfinance.
    An audit was carried out and it unraveled and the total amount involved was $881.
