    Chief Neromwe installed amid controversy

CHIREDZI - Clemence  Madzingo was installed Chief Neromwe yesterday despite two High Court interdicts to stop the process.
The event which took place at Masimbaevanhu Primary school was snubbed by Chiredzi chiefs but attended by most chiefs from Masvingo province.
The chieftainship which belongs to the Gumbo clan was abolished by the colonial government in 1908 and the Noromwe clan started the process to reclaim it in 2006 leaving it under Chief Tshovani who was allegedly working for the white regime.
Speaking during the event, the Minister of State for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira who was the guest of honour said the Neromwe chieftainship started in 1860 and he moved from Dande with his brothers Chief Gutu and Ndanga and he continued to move downwards to Chiredzi since he was the youngest of them. He said they belong to the Gumbo clan but they later changed to Ndoro despite being brothers to Gutu and Ndanga.
He also said the chieftainship was approved after the family started to claim it in 2006.
However Minster of Local Government July Moyo who was supposed to be the guest of honour failed to attend the ceremony. Chiefs Musara, Mabika, Bere, Mazungunye, Nemauzhe, Serima, Mugabe, Murinye, Munyaradzi, Gutu, Shindi and Mukaro attended the event.
