    5 Riverton pupils get Cambridge exam awards


    MASVINGO - One of the leading private schools in the country, Riverton Academy has had five of its pupils awarded with ‘Outstanding Cambridge Learner’s Awards’ for the 2018 June and November IGCSE and A level Cambridge exams.
    The pupils received the awards at a ceremony held at Cresta Lodge in Harare recently. The ceremony was graced by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Paul Mavima, deputy head of mission, British Embassy Harare Simon Thomas while the Association of Trust Schools CEO Tim Middleton was the guest speaker.
    A total of 99 students got awards at the ceremony which is an annual event organized by Cambridge Assessment International Education to acknowledge outstanding performers in the June and November examinations in the IGCSE subjects for both O Level and A Level.
    Riverton Academy had three IGCSE pupils awarded with the top student in Zimbabwe having obtained A*’s while one got a high achievement award. Paul Mataruka, Rodney Gurajena and Isheanesu Matema were the best in accounting, economics and geography respectively while Andrew Spinyu got a high achievement award in additional mathematics.
    Tinotenda Bopoto, an A level student scooped two top student awards in geography and economics.
    Riverton Academy managing director of Academic and Student Welfare, Herbert Mushandu said he was happy with the awards and added that they were a testimony of the school’s quality education.
