    Mataga Officer-in-charge arrested for hoarding fuel

    Ngqabutho Fuyana (38), the officer-in-charge at Mataga in Mberengwa has been arrested for abuse of office after he allegedly bought large quantities of fuel at a local service station on the pretext that it was for the Police station when in fact it was for his personal use.
    Fuyana appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Shephard Mjanja facing charges of criminal abuse of duty as a public officer and was granted $300 bail.
    The Sate represented by Webster Debwe said that on May 16, 2019, Fuyana proceeded to Mataga Service Station and bought 200 litres of fuel on the pretext that the fuel was for the Police Station. He loaded the fuel into   a Police vehicle and drove off.
    He allegedly put the fuel to personal use. On June 28 the accused who was in the company of a friend, one officer Chihora went to the same station with 5x25 litre plastic containers and 3x20 
    litre metal jerry cans.
    He allegedly bought 200litres of diesel and used his friend and wife’s Ecocash numbers for the transactions. The fuel did not go to the Police station, according to the Prosecutor but ended up in a fowl run at a friend’s house.
    Members of the Police force and Central Intelligence acting on the information raided the friend’s house and found the diesel leading to the arrest of the accused.
