    Gokomere school head’s wife dies

    Patricia Mazhunga the wife to Gokomere High School head Aquinos Mazhunga is no more!
    Mazhunga (52) died at Parirenyatwa Hospital on Saturday after battling from 1999 to 2019 with breast cancer.
    Mazhunga was buried last Monday at her homestead in Sango Village under headman Sango in Chirumanzu where hundreds of people including Bishop Michael Dixon Bhasera, Vicar General Walter Nyatsanza, dozens of priests, school heads and officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education converged to pay their last respects.
    Mazhunga trained as a teacher at Gweru Teachers’ College and later obtained a Bachelor of Education Degree from the Zimbabwe Open University.
    She taught at various schools throughout Masvingo including Soti Source, Chiguhune, Mukaro all in Gutu; Nyabata in Renco Mine and Gokomere High School.
    Those who gave testimonies at the funeral spoke glowingly of her humility and selflessness.
    Mazhunga is survived by her husband and three children namely; Tafadzwa ,Takudzwa  and Tatenda She had two grandchildren Shia and Ethan.
    Former Mukaro student, Pauline Mareva described Mazhunga as a pillar of strength and forthright person who wanted the best out of everyone.
    ‘She always gave the best advice to the students; she was not just a teacher but a mother to everyone. Her words of wisdom always kept us going,’’ said Mareva
