Tarirokunashe Dewa, a two-year-old child who is suffering from brain tumour has received a shot in the arm after Daughter of the soil, a United Kingdom based organisation raised $4 500 to enable him to go for an operation.
The newly appointed National Peace and Reconciliation chairperson for Masvingo, Commissioner Golden Chekenyere also chipped in and linked the parents to medical surgeons in Harare who would perform the operation.
This means that the $4 500 will now go towards medicines and transport for the parents and the child.
Tarirokunashe’s case was raised by The Mirror last week after his parent, Kunashe Dewa approached the newspaper looking for help.
The donation was handed over to The Mirror Consultant, Matthew Takaona by Vimbainashe Gopoza, mother to one of the organisation members, Rindiraiishe Gopoza.
Daughter of the Soil is an organisation of Zimbabwean women staying in the Diaspora and those who donated towards the cause are Lizzie Guvava, Last Mafuba, Ginny Takaona Holmes and Rindiraiishe Gopoza who are all based in the UK.
Tariro’s father is a Police officer in Masvingo and the mother is unemployed, yet the operation is urgent.
