CHIVHU - Three youths from Ward 1 in Featherstone stand a chance to make it into top flight football, courtesy of a visit by  coaches to the district that was organised by Chikomba West MP Dr John Mangwiro.
Urayai Shomayi, Admire Zangairayi and Blessing Chenjerai were last week selected for trials at Chicken Inn Football Club after  Chicken Inn coach Joe Antipas had seen them playing at Pimbi Secondary school in Featherstone.
Dr Mangwiro approached Antipas, David Broomboy George and Simeon Jamanda (soccer legends) to come and observe the way the youth played and if possible select them for trials in their teams.
Antipas is a former Warriors coach (2009-2011) and is now Chicken Inn coach (current coach of the month), the current log leaders.
Jamanda who is former Chief of Protocol of the Zimbabwe Football Association told The Mirror that they were called by the MP to identify local talent since the Government has identified sport as an industry.
“We came to observe local talent and this is to support Government’s stance on sport as an industry. We are also here to help the youth to play organised sport,” said Jamanda.
The teams participated in a round robin format and all three teams received a match ball.
Tawanda Mumanyi, aka Seh Calaz graced the occasion and advised the youth against drug abuse.
