    Zhokwe man axes ex-wife for refusing to accompany him

    GWANDA -A man from Zhokwe Village in Guyu under chief Nhlamba’s area has been arrested after hitting his ex-wife with an axe for refusing to accompany him.
    The complainant, Agnes Sibanda (79) was treated at Gwanda Provincial Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
    Bishop Sibanda (age not given) visited the accused on May 10, 2019 at 2pm and they had some discussions.
    After the discussions, Bishop then asked the complainant to escort him but Agnes refused and this did not go down well with the accused person who became emotional. He picked up an axe which was nearby and struck the complainant once on the forehead and several times at the back.
    The complainant was taken to a local clinic and was referred to Gwanda Hospital where she was admitted.
    Mat South Police spokesperson lnsp Philisani Ndebele confirmed the incident.
