Wife seeks maintenance variance over hubby US$ salary

ZVISHAVANE – A woman who won $150 maintenance against her husband in 2015 successfully sought a review from the courts last week after proving that her spouse, a driver at Mimosa Mines in Zvishavane was being paid in US$.
The angry man told the court that his wife would have to move out of his house if she was allowed to have a variation that takes her maintenance earnings beyond RTGS$200.  Magistrate Shephard Mjanja granted new maintenance of RTGS$400.
Ojesi Saidi who is a driver at Mimosa was summoned to court after his wife Agnes Muchechesi filed a variation upwards  application for three minor children.
Saidi was ordered to pay US$150 as maintenance in 2015 by Magistrate Story Rushambwa and then the rate was 1:1 between the Zim and US$. Today the Zim dollar has plummeted and Muchechesi got information that her husband was getting his salary in US dollars.
Muchechesi wanted her earnings in US$ but that was rejected by the courts and she then asked for RTGS400 which she was granted. Saidi had offered to pay RTGS$200.
Saidi even misrepresented the court that he was earning RTGS $500 but it emerged that he earned US$326.
