    Tongogara RDC CEO wrecks D4D in accident

    TONGOGARA – A state of the art Toyota D4D has been damaged beyond repair after Tongogara Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Rufasha was involved in an accident with it on Saturday.
    The accident happened at Musabeza Bridge along Masvingo-Shurugwi Road and Rufasha who panicked after the accident is said to have fled from the scene.
    Rufasha confirmed the accident in an interview with The Mirror but refuted allegations that he ran away after the accident. Two people Joseph Mazodze (36) and his son Chakura Mazodze (13) were slightly injured in the accident and they were taken to Shurugwi General Hospital.
    Midlands Police spokesperson Isaac Goko referred all questions to his juniors saying he he was out of office.
    Sources said that Rufasha hit a parked car as he was driving from Chivi.
    “It is true that I was involved in an accident but the allegations that I ran away are not true,” said Rufasha.
    Sources said that the car that Rufasha hit had some cops sitting in it and they ran after him when he fled from the scene.
    "I was trying to avoid an oncoming vehicle when another car was parked on my side without indicators that there was a breakdown. I veered off the road hitting the car which was parked.
     "The allegations that I assaulted a Police officer who tried to apprehend me are lies. How could I do that, Police came to the scene after about two hours," he added.
