    Tanganda Half-Marathon preps a gear up


    MUTARE- Registration for this year’s edition of the Tanganda Half Marathon set for June 30, 2019 in Mutare has begun.
    The registration processes for the event being carried out in Harare at 194 Mutare Road, Msasa, Mutare at 15 Vumba Road, Bulawayo at 3 Leeds Street, Belmont and Gweru at 33 Zimre Shell, Shamrock Park closes on Friday, June 28.
    A memo sent to The Mirror from Tanganda confirmed the developments.
    “Tanganda Tea Company has been promoting healthy lifestyles through its annual half marathon since the 90’s … The event will take place in Harare, Bulawayo and the magnificent city of Mutare. Mutare is our hub; it is home to the Tanganda packing and blending factory
    “Athletes below the age of 20 will pay RTGS10 registration fee, 20 years and above will pay RTGS15 while those participating in relays (teams of four participants of the same sex) will pay RTGS 40… athletes are advised to bring a national ID or student card for registration,” reads the memo
    The marathon is sponsored by Tanganda in conjunction with National Athletics Boards such as Manicaland Athletics Board (MAB) and the National Association Athletics Board (NAAB).
    “Main Race is the 21km which will be open to all senior age groups. This will include relays and wheelchair categories. The 10km race will have the following categories:  Veterans, Masters, Grant Masters, Secondary and Tertiary. We will also have a 5km fun race for the people who want to take it nice and slow,” reads the memo.
    The half marathon will see athletes starting along Burma Valley Road at Gombakomba turnoff, approximately a kilometer after Lower Vumba Gardens and ending at Mutare Sports Club.
