Suspected taxi driver murderer remanded in custody.

    The late Josiah Rimai

MASVINGO – A man who is suspected of murdering a Masvingo taxi driver, Josiah Rimai has appeared at Masvingo Magistrates Court charged with murder.
Chakanetsa Kambarami (37) of Glen Norah C in Harare appeared before magistrate Rufaro Mangwiro yesterday.
The State says on Sunday at 9am Kambarami was in the company of his wife Caroline Banda (23) when he hired Rimai to make errands around the city.
At 2pm Rimai, Kambarami and his wife went to Backpackers Lodge where Kambarami and his wife were booked. Kambarami later left the two in the lodge and went to buy beer.
He, on his return, suspected that the deceased had proposed to his wife and he assaulted him with clenched fists and booted feet on the neck and head. When he realized that Rimai was bleeding from the mouth and nose he left the lodge with him leaving his wife alone. He allegedly dumped the deceased in a bush between Rujeko and Masvingo Teachers’ College.
The deceased’s body was found by his colleagues who had scoured the bushes looking for him. He died on admission to hospital on Tuesday.
The car which Kambarami stole from the deceased was recovered.
