GWERU –  Smelly Dube, a land developer with some of the largest residential stands schemes in the Midlands Province got commissioners of Inquiry into the sale of State land in and around urban areas agitated when she kept on interjecting other speakers during a field tour of housing projects.
Commissioner Petronela Musarurwa was forced to ask Dube to give others a chance to speak as she interjected even when land engineers and other experts were giving evidence and explaining technical issues to the commissioners.
Although Dube would apologise after being warned, she would interject again soon afterwards and this forced Commissioner Musarurwa to tell her that it seemed like she was the only one with issues and henceforth no one was going to speak except her.
“Ok enough of that, can we all keep quiet and let Dube speak because she is the only one with issues to be heard,” said Musarurwa
Dube who has won many business accolades is the owner of River Valley Properties and she runs several housing schemes in the Midlands Province including in Gweru and Shurugwi. She also has housing schemes in Bulawayo and some of them have spilled into the courts.
Dube interjected whenever commissioners asked for Gweru City Engineer Robson Manatsa’s opinion on technical issues. At times she interjected when the chairman of the Commission Justice Tendai Uchena was speaking.
She argued with Manatsa on whether the water reticulation constructions she did on one of her schemes was on sight or off sight.
