Chadzamira gives Msv Council 3 months to relocate dumpsite

Masvingo- The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Ezra Chadzamira has given Masvingo City Council a three months ultimatum to relocate Runyararo West dumpsite away from the residential areas as it has become a health hazard.
Chadzamira said the issue of the dumpsite has taken too long to be resolved and he wants the Council to move with speed to a new area.
He said this at the victory celebrations of Ward 6 Zanu PF councillor Wellington Mawende who is also the City’s Deputy Mayor.
The celebrations which saw hundreds of people braving the chilly weather on Saturday last week were held at Vurombo Primary School in Mucheke.
“I am giving the Council two to three months to relocate the current dumpsite from the residential areas to a new place as this has become a health time bomb to the residents. We are not going to accept any excuses as we move towards smart cities concept in the country.
“This is in line with the new dispensation’s Vision 2030 of a middle income country,” said Chadzamira who was the guest of honour.
Collen Maboke, Masvingo City Mayor said they applied for land from Government for a new site and they are yet to get a response.
“As soon as we get land from Government we are ready to move away the dumpsite from Runyararo West,” said Maboke.
Chadzamira also bemoaned the state of the City’s road network and implored the city fathers to act on that as a matter of urgency.
“Roads must be maintained and kept in good shape, we will not condone corruption, we want leaders who are accountable to the electorate, who do not abuse funds for projects which benefit the people. Devolution is also coming as the legal framework is being crafted by the AG’s office and this will go a long way in eliminating bureaucracy as the Province will have its own budget for capital projects,” added Chadzamira.
Mawende won the ward 6 seat in the 2018 harmonised elections and went on to be elected Deputy Mayor.
The crowd was kept on their feet after the official proceedings as they danced to music by upcoming sungura artist Peter Moyo and Utakataka Express.
The celebrations were graced by Zanu PF big wigs from the Province like Politiburo member, Lovemore Matuke, central committee member, Clemence Makwarimba, ward 8 councillor Against Chiteme, ward 10 councillor Sengerai Manyanga, Fainos Makwarimba and provincial youth executive member Auxillia Dhanzi among others.
