    Habitual Murambinda thieves remanded in prison


    MURAMBINDA- Two habitual Murambinda thieves who terrorised residents at the growth point have been arrested after stealing cash valued at US$700, RTGS$130 and SAR7 000.
    Kudzai Mutesanwa (24) of Chivhima village under Chief Ngezi, Mhondoro and Obert Ndawana (20) of Munyimi Village under Headman Mombeyarara, Buhera pleaded guilty as charged and were remanded in custody to June 19, 2019.
    They both appeared before Magistrate Dennis Mangosi on Friday last week.
    Mutesanwa has not yet completed his community service sentence at the Murambinda Magistrate court for a similar offence. Ndawana was also tried and convicted of unlawful entry cases which have become their way of stealing people’s property.
    The complainant is Raphael Zireni (38) who resides at house number 2543 Jaru location, Murambinda and is self employed.
    It is the State case that on June 8, 2019 at around 12pm, Zireni left his homestead to visit his new stand in the same location; he only locked the bedroom door leaving the main door unlocked.
    Ndawana then took the opportunity to sneak into Zireni’s house through the main door. While inside he used a kitchen knife to cut off a hole in the ceiling and used it to enter the bedroom.
    He searched the bedroom and found cash amounting to US$700, RTGS$130 and SAR7 000, Itel cell-phone, Techno cell-phone, Viwa cell-phone which he took away.
    Mutesanwa provided surveillance while his accomplice was stealing from the house. The two left the homestead but were noticed by neighbours who alerted Zireni leading to their arrest as they were making their way to Rusape.
    The recovered money was US$660, RTGS$60 and SAR6 400.
