    Chivi RDC police fined for throwing spike on motorist

    CHIVI –
    A municipal police with Chivi Rural District Council has been fined $100 or 30 days in prison for hitting a motorist with a spike during a scuffle.
    Webster Jowanisi (39) from Ngundu stands in Chivi was found guilty of assaulting Takemore Chikunda of the same area with a spike leaving him with an injured palm and finger.
    Jowanisi appeared before Magistrate Mukumba on Wednesday last week.
    Chikunda who was driving a baby Quantum pulled off the road at Ngundu Business Centre to buy water melons.  Jowanisi and his colleague approached Chikunda and introduced themselves as Chivi RDC workers before asking him to pay fine for stopping at undesignated point.
     Chikunda tried to negotiate but some misunderstandings arose and Jowanisi threw a spike and hit the complainant’s left palm and his left finger. Chikunda was medically examined and a Police report was made.
    Andrew Ndaramira prosecuted.
