    Bishop Bhasera invites Catholics to Mozambique

    Masvingo Bishop who is also the Apostolic Administrator for Gweru Diocese Rt Rev Michael Bhasera has invited Catholics to travel to Mozambique and meet Pope Francis who is visiting that country in September in the aftermath of the devastating Cyclone Idai.
    The Pope’s visit which will take place from September 4 to 6 2019 was announced at the launch of the Extraordinary Missionary Month at Gokomere Mission Shrine by the bishop two weeks ago.
    The launch was attended by Catholics from all over Masvingo Diocese as this was the only Mass that took place in the province.
    Cyclone Idai recorded in March this year hit three countries namely Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe but it was most intense around the Beira area where hundreds of people were killed. In Zimbabwe more than 400 people mainly from Chimanimani were reported dead.
    The Sunday Mass was conducted by Bishop Bhasera.
    The theme of Extraordinary Missionary Month announced by the Pope is Baptised and Sent: the Church of Christ on Mission in the Word’.
     ‘’I hope that the Extraordinary Missionary Month will offer the opportunity for both renewal and a renewed spirit of activity in the Church’s missionary calling, which is at the heart of our identity, ‘’ said Fr Chagweda.
