Una Una, Greyham FC match abandoned

Highflying Masvingo Utd and Greyham FC match was abandoned after fierce protest from the visitors over what they claimed to be a legitimate goal just 20 minutes into the game at Ruwa Stadium this Sunday.
The match officials did not make matters better as they changed their decisions three times; at first the middle man signaled for a goal but after consultations with the assistant referee he changed and disallowed the goal on the basis that it went over the bar only to change his mind after Una Una officials protested.
Una Una argued that the net was torn and the ball went past the net while on the other hand Greyham officials said the ball went over the cross bar leading to the abandonment of the match just some few seconds after play had resumed.
Una Una’s Nomore Kanyemba unleashed a thunderbolt from the middle of the park which left Greyham goalkeeper stunned but the assistant referee disallowed the goal arguing that it went over the bar although a video in possession of The Mirror shows that the net was torn.
As the arguments wore on for more than an hour the match officials were left with no option except to abandon the match as players from either side started walking out of the pitch in protest.
ZIFA Eastern Region Division 1 chief executive officer, Tedius Machawira said they are yet to receive reports on the match from the referees and both teams management.
A Greyham FC official who identified himself as Hama said he is not at liberty to discuss the matter as they have filed their report with ZIFA and are waiting for the judgment.
UnaUna spokesperson, Godfrey Mutimba said they were shocked by the behaviour of the home team and hope that ZIFA will reprimand them.
What baffles most neutrals is the fact that when UnaUna were losing their opening matches they did that with honour, now that they are beating their opponents as they come there is trouble on and off the pitch. Last week there was mayhem at Masvingo’s ceremonial home of football, Mucheke Stadium when a Makaha FC official fired gunshots in the air following his team’s thrashing by 3-0.
