    Mutimba elected NANGO national vice chair

    BULAWAYO - Masvingo United Residents and Ratepayers Alliance (MURRA) spokesperson, Godfrey Mutimba has been elected the new National Association of Non Governmental Organizations (NANGO) Vice Chairperson.
    Mutimba was elected on May 7, 2019 during elections held at Cresta Churchill Hotel in Bulawayo where over 100 NGO’s were represented.
    NANGO is the mother body for NGO’s mandated with the coordination of member organizations.
    Mutimba will deputize Ronica Mambire of Women’s Bureau organization in Harare who was elected chairperson. Rodger Nyamandi of Discover Zimbabwe Trust, Eastern region Branch will serve as secretary general; Sikhathele Mathambo from Emtonjeni Women’s Bureau will serve as treasurer, Donald Tobaiwa from Midlands Jointed hands Welfare will serve as Vice Secretary on a three year term.
    In an interview with The Mirror, Mutimba said the new executive will strive to protect the shrinking civil society space, create amicable relations with Government and demand transparency in all matters that affect the community particularly during devolution.
    “I will fight to ensure that civil society in Masvingo is represented and recognized at national level. The new executive will strive towards safeguarding the shrinking civil society space in the country; create amicable relations with stakeholders and Government.
    “We will also strive to ensure that Government conducts the devolution processes in a transparent manner and that communities benefit from this process,” said Mutimba.
