CHIREDZI – MDC Alliance Chiredzi West District failed to hold its congress for the second time on Sunday following a low turnout.
The turnout was attributed to factionalism Factionalism. National organising secretary Amos Chibaya who was to preside over the elections later announced that the party was pardoning thousands of members who worked with renegades who stood as independent candidates during 2018 harmonised elections.
The district congress failed to take place last month after Masvingo pro-vincial youth chair Philip Chingini ran away with documents that had par-ty structures. As a result the district did not participate at the provincial congress.
Chibaya said Chiredzi West was troublesome to the extent that it is the only district in the country where the national organizer had to preside over elections.
“I came here to preside over district elections but with the number of people I am seeing here we are far less the required quorum hence I am post-poning the congress to Sunday after the presidential rally at Tshovani Sta-dium. We should learn to work together as a party family not to point fin-gers at each other” said Chibaya.
