Boiling water poured on Mvuma man for asking for sex

    Josphat Mukwawaya.

MVUMA – A woman from Carval Bar in Mvuma has been ordered to pay $50 bail after she drenched a man who allegedly said suggestive things and demanded sex from her with boiling water.
Mberikunashe Chipiwa (23), appeared before Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga facing charges of assault after she poured hot water on Josphat Mukwawaya (35).
Mukwanya is alleged to have told Chipiwa that he wanted to have sex with her as her sister was having sex with men in the neighbouring suburb. In addition Mukwawaya allegedly grabbed mealies from Chipiwa’s pot.
The State said that at around 930pm on April 17, 2019 at 64 Main Street at Carval bar in Mvuma, Mberikunashe had a misunderstanding with Mukwawaya over mealies that Mukwawaya took from Mberikunashe's pot.
This did not go well with Mberikunashe who went into the house and brought a pot full of boiling water and poured it on Mukwawaya's chest and left arm.
Mberikunashe told the court that Mukwawaya had said stuff that she did not like; ndoda kuku… nhasi inga munin'ina wako anokwi…. wani kulocation (I want to sleep with you today just as your young sister is sleeping with some men at the location).
"I had no intention of burning him but he grabbed my arm and said things that offended me," she said
Mberikunashe was released on $RTGS50 bail and will face trial on May 9 2019.
    Michael Kazomba represented the State.
