    Beitbridge soldier ‘robs, sells’ South African car

    BEITBRIDGE - Nobert Muringo (36), a soldier based at Indeep Barracks in Beitbridge has appeared at the local court facing robbery charges.
    Muringo who is standing trial before magistrate Godswill Mavenge allegedly robbed a man driving from South Africa of his Toyota Rav vehicle worth $27 000 and sold it in Bulawayo. The car had South African registration numbers.
    He was remanded in custody to May 28, this year.
    It is the State case that on April 26, at around 3am, Muringo and his accomplices Shame, Newzie and Cally who are still at large approached the complainant at Chamunanga area in Beitbridge where his car had developed a tyre puncture. They allegedly accused him of having smuggled the motor vehicle and they produced machetes before taking away his car keys and driving off to Bulawayo.
     They allegedly sold the car to a buyer known to the accused and they shared the loot and returned to Beitbridge.
    Investigations were carried out and the accused was arrested on May 11, this year under CR 38/04/19. Misheck Guwanda prosecuted.
