MASVINGO - Masvingo United has started on a low note with one point in two games and it currently sits on position 14 out of 16 teams.
On Sunday it was home at Mucheke Stadium as it played Bikita Minerals FC and they drew 1-1 in a game that was exciting in the first half but Una Una boys looked tired in the second.
Football analysts said the merger of Masvingo United and Masvingo Pirates probably took its toll as the merged teams only trained together for two weeks before the start of the Eastern Region Division 1 League. It will take sometime before the team clicks which saw pre-season training sessions begin with just two weeks before the commenced.
The team lost 1-0 to Mwenezana in their opening fixture and drew 1-1 with Bikita Minerals on Sunday this week much to the dismay of the coach and fans who, however, remain hopeful that the team will bounce back.
“The team’s performance is better compared to the last game. The players are showing signs of determination, maturity and the zeal to win. We are expecting an interesting game against Chiredzi FC on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Mucheke Stadium,” said Una Una head coach, Shadreck Maguraushe.
A player who spoke to The Mirror on anonymity said the club’s technical team is still assessing the quality and game play of the 23 member squad to form a formidable squad that can compete for top flight football.
