CHIREDZI – The Government recently changed the titles of  District Administrators (DA) and Provincial Administrators (PA) to District Development Coordinators (DDC) and Provincial Development Coordinators respectively, a senior official has confirmed.
Public Service Commission Secretary, Ambassador Jonathan Wutaunashe told The Mirror in a telephone interview on Tuesday that the changes are in line with devolution and the two civil servants will have a thrust in their duties with a strong  emphasis on development.
The re-tasking and re-focusing is in response to the new development which is in line with devolution, said Ambassador Wutawunashe.
“The work of the Provincial Administrators and District Administrators now has a new development focus. At provincial level we now have Provincial Development Coordinators and at district level we have District Development Coordinators. The momentum is now changing, focusing more on development. There are not many changes regarding the duties which they were carrying out.
“The new imperative is very clear, it is about development. The re-tasking and re-focusing is in response to the new development which is devolution aimed at uplifting the economy of regions and areas where these officers will be stationed,” said Wutaunashe.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National
Housing George Magosvongwe said he was not the right person to discuss the issue. He said the Public Service Commission was the employer and therefore well placed to explain the developments.
