    Beitbridge nurse in court over stolen drugs

    A nurse at Beitbridge District Hospital Stanford Ncube (51) has appeared in court after drugs suspected to be stolen were found in his house.
    Ncube who appeared at the Beitbridge Magistrates Court last Friday is facing three charges of storing special restricted preparations at an unspecified premises, being found in possession of property believed to be stolen and possession of unregistered drugs.
    Ncube who stays in a Government house along Pine Road paid $300 bail after pleading not guilty to all the three charges. He was remanded to April 17 2019 and ordered to continue residing at his place of residence until the completion of his case.
    Ncube who is being represented by Tererai of Tererai Legal Practitioners will also report at Beitbridge Police station once every Friday between 6am and 6pm and not to interfere with witnesses.
    It is the State case that on April 3, detectives received information that Ncube was operating a surgery at unregistered premises, and they (detectives) reacted to the information and recovered medical drugs and pharmaceutical items stored in his bedroom and dining room which are premises not specified for the storage of specially restricted preparations as stated in part 11 of the 8th schedule of Statutory Instrument 150 of 1991. 
    Investigations are still in progress to establish whether the drugs were stolen from the hospital or not. It is alleged that Police recovered medical cards at the accused person’s house.
