Bar lady murdered for not taking orders

MASVINGO RURAL – A barmaid at Vanhinhi Bottle at Charumbira Business Center in Chief Charumbira’s area was stabbed to death by suspected robbers on Tuesday last week when she failed to surrender cash to them.
Masvingo Province deputy Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and advised the public against resisting orders from armed people.
Sources told The Mirror that on March 26 at 830pm, two robbers armed with firearms suspected to be AK-47 rifles and knives entered the bottle store and ordered about 20 patrons who were inside to lie down. Some of the patrons managed to escape through the back door and storeroom windows.
One robber manned the doorway while the other advanced towards the barmaid, Mary Chikwenhere (33) with a rifle in one hand and a knife in the other.
Chikwenhere told the robbers that she did not have cash and the robber in the doorway allegedly gave orders to his colleague to shoot her in the head and gunshots were heard.
The robbers then instructed the patrons to surrender all their belongings and one patron was stabbed on the shoulder blade when he appeared to be reluctant to comply.
A post-mortem conducted at Masvingo Provincial Hospital however, showed that Chikwenhere was stabbed on the shoulder blade and sustained a deep wound which resulted in her death.
The robbers got away with beers, cigarettes, Ecco amplifier, cellphones and cash whose amount has is not yet established. Twelve cartridges were recovered at the scene. The matter was reported to the owner of the bottle store, Elvis Mudavose who notified the Police.
The robbers are still at large and the value of the property stolen is still under investigation.
