    MASVINGO –
Tragedy struck the family of a Chikombedzi teacher when her two children aged three and five fell and drowned in a pit that was dug out for a latrine toilet.
Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the death of Fabius Muponderi (31)’s children. Muponderi is a teacher at Mhlanguleni Primary School in Chikombedzi.
Mazula urged parents to jealously guard and monitor juveniles to avoid unnecessary losses.
The Mirror is informed that the two children were left under the custody of their father Chesterfield Kudzai Mavesere (33) at Chikombedzi cottages.
Sources said Keith Mavesere (5) was sent back from school when he met Devine Mavesere (3) at home with their father.
At around 10am, the father left the children playing around the homestead. Their mother came back home for tea break and looked for the children when she did not find them at home.
After several minutes she found the children drowned in a hole which was being dug for pit latrine. The pit was filled with water following heavy rains in the area.
