    Pamushana wins at provincial environmental debates

    MASVINGO –
    Pamushana High School made a sterling performance at the Sustainable Environmental Conservation Trust Africa (SECTA) debate held in Masvingo recently with one of its teams coming first while the school won several other prizes.
    One of Pamushana’s three debating teams of Panashe Rutsakanhiko and Vuyan Chikasha went through to the finals and snatched first position in a debate that pitted them against one team from Gokomere; Gutu High and Silveria each.
    The debate was done the British Parliamentary style.
    Panashe Rutsakanhiko was adjudged the best speaker while another team of Ziki Duncane and Isheanesu Mupiwa  also from Pamushana settled at number five with one of the team players there, Mupiwa being adjudged the 8th best speaker
    Six schools that are affiliated to SECTA participated in the competitions and these are Pamushana, Gokomere, Silveria, Gutu High, Mutendi and Masvingo Christian. They each brought three sets of teams each comprising of two debaters. There were therefore 36 debaters at the competitions.
    Pamushana debating coach Daniel Shatei was impressed by the performance of his teams that are now proceeding to the national finals in Mutare in April.
    “It gives me great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to our students who participated in the competitions. I trust that they will continue to work hard for the the finals”, said Shatei.
