Journalist face to face with man wearing his stolen shirt

    Tawanda Homba

MASVINGO – Strolling through the streets of Masvingo on Saturday last week, Mirror Assistant News Editor, Tawanda Homba bumped into a man wearing his stolen shirt.
Homba’s home in Rujeko was ransacked twice in as many months and all clothes stolen. He never imagined in his wildest dreams that he would recover anything.
He has been running out of luck  recentlly. Three weeks ago a mentally challenged man removed his clothes from the line and disappeared. When he finally caught and took him to the law enforcers, the Police told Homba that the suspect was a well-known mental case and he was released without charge.
The Saturday episode came as a relief. Fast thinking Homba immediately asked Tinashe Nyukai (24) to accompany him to the Police Station. Masvingo Central referred the matter to Rujeko where the theft case was reported.
Rujeko officers immediately went and searched Nyukai’s place in Zimre Park and recovered two more shirts and a pair of trousers. Nyukai told the Police that his  wife Tinotenda Tarusenga (22) bought the clothes from someone who passed through their place.
The two were arrested and are being charged with theft. They appeared before Magistrate Rufaro Mangwiro and were remanded out of custody to March 11 2019.
