    Harare robbers target Rujeko

    MASVINGO – Robbers who had driven all the way from Harare to mug Rujeko residents were nabbed at a roadblock near Chivhu.
    Simbarashe Kanengoni from Harare Warren Park in Harare appeared before regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga on Monday facing four charges of unlawful entry, attempted robbery, armed robbery and unlawful possession of articles of criminal use.
    Liberty Hove representing the State said on November 28, 2018 at 11pm Kanengoni and accomplices who are still at large went to  Eunice Mushavi’s homestead in Rujeko C and entered her house through an open door.
    They demanded cash from Mushavi and tried to open her bedroom door using an iron bar. They ran away when she shouted for help..
    Kanengoni was arrested in Chivhu after failing to produce a license for his BMW registration ADW 5548. The vehicle was searched leading to the recovery of a metal hammer, electric gun and pistol.
    Information was relayed to CID Masvingo who took Kanengoni and conduct and identification parade.
    On count three  on the same day (November 29, 2018) at midnight Kanengoni together with his accomplices went to Primrose Chirongoma’s house in Victoria Range and met Chirongoma’s mother coming from the toilet and manhandled her and escorted her to the house.
    They assaulted Chirongoma’s mother with a hammer and demanded cash from her. Kanengoni pointed a pistol on Chirongoma and he was given cash amounting to $1000 bond, R2000, USD 200 another accused took an Acer laptop, Samsung Grand Prime, Nokia 1200 and car keys of Toyota Runx registration number AEM 2021.
    Police at the roadblock also noticed that the accused had folded the number plate of his car and this raised suspicion and he called a ZNA member at the roadblock and a search was conducted.
    Kanengoni was remanded in custody to March 1, 2019.
