MASVINGO - Lenient Mlilo (27), wife to Glory Temple International pastor Jessat is in a messy rent dispute after she failed to pay her obligations for two months.
However, the case took a twist after Mlilo accused her landlady, Nyaradzo Shumba (35) of stealing her property at Tsungai Complex that include six dining room chairs valued at $3 000 and two carpets valued at $180 which Shumba vehemently.
The matter is now in the court before Magistrate Rufaro Mangwiro.
Fortune Mukede representing the State says that on June 7, 2018 Shumba sublet part of her complex to Mlilo who wanted space to store her goods awaiting delivery to her customers.
She then stored goods which comprised 1 wardrobe, 3 carpets, 4 dining suite chairs, cushions, television stands and a glass table.
During the period extending from October to November 2018, the two had disagreements over late payment of rent. Mlilo claims that the accused then stole complainant’s six dining room chairs valued at $3 000 and two carpets valued at $180.
She says that she discovered the theft on November 19, 2018 when she decided to move from the accused’s place. She then made a Police report leading to Shumba’s arrest.
Shumba told the court that she did not steal from the complainant but the two had agreed on selling the goods so as to recover costs for rent.
