    10 men from Shurugwi get 4 years for violence

    SHURUGWI – Ten men from Homera and Zireva villages under Chief Nhema in Shurugwi were last week sentenced to 48 months in prison for public violence.
    They were sentenced by Shurugwi resident Magistrate Sithabile Zungula.
    The 10 are Bright Chiviviti (28), Charles Ndhlula (44), Taurai Homera (44), Jeremiah Nhatare (38), Josphat Geja (21), Silas Muhlanga (28), GidionGeja (36), TapiwaMutasa (34), Lazarus Nhatare (34) and TyrenZireva (41). Seven other accused persons are still at large Philip Geja, Gift Geja, TafadzwaNhatare, TatendaMapingire, Anesu Moyo and Tatenda Geja.
    The 10 went on a rampage after their relative Tafadzwa Nhatare was struck with a machete. Pride Gomera represented the State.
    They beat up everyone in the village including children.
    The 10 were sentenced to 48 months in prison 8 months suspended for 5 years on condition they do not commit a crime that involves violence.
