    Zvishavane illegal miners remanded for killing rival with explosives.


    Four illegal miners who cornered a rival and pushed him into a dam and allegedly killed him by throwing explosives at him have been remanded in prison to February 15, 2019.
    Brian Vushe suffered a painful death after he was thrown into a dam   and got burnt with explosives at Sabi by the four men from Mazvihwa.
    Bothwell Moyo (30), Omega Ziwa (20), Godknows Sibanda (22), Munashe Mtetwa (22) and Alpha Shava faced murder charges when they appeared before Resident Magistrate Archie Wochiunga on Friday for routine remand. Three of the accused persons were available while two are not accounted for.
    It is the State case that on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at South Devon Dam along Shavi River near Sabi Gold Mine in Zvishavane, the accused were proceeding to Sabi for illegal gold mining when they met the now deceased who was in company of his colleagues coming from Sabi.
    A misunderstanding ensued resulting in all the accused persons assaulting the now deceased indiscriminately with machetes, stones and fists.
    The deceased’s friends ran away leaving him behind. Vushe later ran into South Devon Dam and the  accused persons pursued him and surrounded the dam to prevent the now deceased from getting out of the water. They started throwing explosives at him resulting in his death.
    They were remanded in custody to February 15 2019 for routine remand. Monica Mungwena represented the State.
