    GWERU –
Unki Mine has come to the rescue of Gweru City Council with a package to rehabilitate public toilets in the town.
Gweru City Council has six public toilets and most of them are in a state of disrepair with no water, flush systems that have broken down and dilapidated and old structures.
Gweru Town Clerk Elizabeth Gwatipedza disclosed the package in a full council meeting held at the council Chambers at Civic Centre.
“We have engaged Unki Mining Company to help us with the refurbishment of our public toilets. l am happy to say that they agreed to assist and work has already started at the Irvine Rank toilets,” said Gwatipedza
The deal with Unki follows a complaint raised by Ward 13 councillor Catherine Mhondiwa against the state of the public toilets
Mhondiwa said it was bad for a City that was recently hit by a serious typhoid outbreak to have toilets that can cause a recurrence of the same.
Gweru City Council has been having serious problems with its public toilets for a long time as they were no longer useable.
