BUHERA - A suspected Buhera cattle rustler who stays near Sosteni Business Centre under Chief Nyashanu is said to be on the run after allegedly stealing a beast from the neighbouring Gutu District.
Titus Zingwini, popularly known as Bode is accused of stealing one bovine black and white in color from Machingura Village in Gutu and brought it to Sosteni where he was seen driving it by villagers.
Villagers from Gutu complained that stock thieves from Buhera were causing them sleepless nights, invading their cattle pens.
The beast belongs to Taruona Machingura who resides in Machingura Village under Chief Chitsa. Machingura said that he suspects his bovine was stolen at around 1am in November, 2018 People saw Bode herding it off across Nyazvidzi River.
Machingura said he visited Bode’s homestead and was told by his wife that he left the place in September 2018. However,  a relative who introduced himself as Bode’s uncle said the suspect left his house earlier that day.
Machingura said that he reported the matter to Chinyika Police Post under Bhasera but up to now no arrests have been made and also no updates from them and that is making him very worried.
A Police officer from Buhera who spoke on condition of anonymity said it is difficult to arrest Bode because people in his area are afraid of him and would therefore not report to the Police.
Meanwhile, Philimon Matunya, a suspected cattle rustler was released on bail by Murambinda Magistrate.
