    Rutenga shopkeeper raped, robbed

A man who is understood to be working as a welder at Rutenga Growth Point has been remanded in prison after he allegedly raped a shopkeeper.
Sengiwe Musikavanhu (33) who comes from Makume Ranch under chief Chitanga appeared before resident magistrate Mandhlenkosi Ndhovu facing rape, assault and theft charges last week.
The alleged crime was committed two weeks ago at Ian One Garage at the Growth Point.
It is the State case that the accused followed the complainant into a bedroom at the garage and asked for sex but his advances were spurned by the complainant.
The accused allegedly pushed the complainant onto the bed, raised her dress up, pushed her pant aside and raped her. It is alleged that the accused then went outside the room and brought a wooden log which he used to strike the complainant several times all over her body.
He struck the complainant twice on the face with fists and took away $60 and a Nokia cell phone, the court was told.
Musikavanhu left the court in stitches when he told the court that he was in love with the complainant.
‘’I am in love with the complainant and I last slept with her on January 3. I did not have intercourse with her that day because the door was open,” said Musikavanhu.
He was remanded in custody to February 6 for further investigations.
    Caroline Pasipanodya prosecuted.
