    Prominent Zvishavane photographer jailed over shutdown

    ZVISHAVANE - Three men from Zvishavane including a prominent local photographer, Givemore Makandire have been remanded in custody for allegedly blocking a road during the stayway staged by workers two weeks ago.
    The three allegedly blocked the Zvishavane - Gweru Road at the 5km peg.
    Makandire who is popularly known as Jive Studios was an MDC Alliance candidate for council elections during the 2018 harmonized elections.
    Makandire, Tapiwa Matshona and Sheunesu Nyoni appeared before Resident Magistrate Archie Wochiunga facing charges of obstructing or endangering free movement of persons or traffic as defined in section 38(c) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
    There were seven accused in the case and four others have since been discharged.
    It is the State case that on January 15 2018 at 7am, the accused who were acting in common purpose proceeded to the 5km peg  and barricaded the road by placing stones and lit tyres. They were seen by Jabulani Tasvika and Ngazimbi who confronted them.
    A report was made to ZRP Zvishavane and the scene was attended to. The accused fled the scene upon seeing the Police. Police then removed the stones from the road and recovered a Toyota Corolla ADM3822 which was used to ferry tyres.
    They were remanded in custody to 31 January 2018.
