MASVINGO - Bulls Gas, a subsidiary of Bulls Power Fuels has come to Masvingo and the company is spreading its tentacles throughout the Southern region including Chiredzi, Zvishavane, Beitbridge and Chivhu.
Bulls Power Fuels was officially launched in Harare on August 17, 2017 and it has as its directors, Michael Munhuweyi, Morgan   Munhuweyi and Oscar Chaipa.
Michael Munhuweyi, the Chief Executive Officer of Bulls Power Fuels is a chartered accountant who is in the financial service sector in Zimbabwe, South Africa and is currently based in the Bahrain.
He is a member of various associations including the Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ACA); the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA) and the Institute of Certified Accountants of Canada.
The demand for gas for domestic use has been steadily increasing in Zimbabwe but facilities from which it is sold throughout the country are backyard shops with archaic equipment.
Morgan  Munhuweyi who spoke to The Mirror last week said his company has been inspired to join the gas retail sector after realising how consumers are short-changed by ill-equipped retailers. He said that Bulls Gas whose mandate is to supply gas to the southern region has state of the art equipment and is establishing modern gas outlets.
In Masvingo residents recently woke up to state of the art facilities when the gas company opened shop at Sisk Shopping Centre and is targeting more than 20 000 households in Mucheke and Victoria Range where more than 10 000 houses are not connected to electricity. Another gas outlet will be opened in Rujeko soon.
Bulls Gas supplies gas for domestic and industrial use.
“We have decided to have our gas tank here at Sisk as it is central to Mucheke and Victoria Range residents and with the service station coming up very soon they will be complementing each other.
“We have a state of the art scale where we weigh the customer’s cylinder before filling it and if there is any gas left over in the container we subtract that with what the customer wants to buy so that they are not prejudiced as opposed to other operators who just fill in without taking that into consideration,” said Erasmus Munhuweyi, the Southern Region director.
The Sisk shop started operations on January 30 this year and is installed with modern Premier Optic Fibre Log Master Scale and Corken Pump which takes less than a minute to fill up a 5litre cylinder. All the equipment at the outlet is imported from South Africa and the gas tank has 5000kg capacity.
Bulls Gas procure their gas from South Africa and have a depot in Mt Hampden in Harare and eight outlets including Zvishavane and Masvingo. The company uses its own trucks to ferry the gas.
The company has socio-corporate responsibilities where it trains customers on how to safely handle gas during transportation and cooking.
It has complied with Environmental Management Authority regulations, the City Council and fire prevention measures where they have installed a 20m water hose reel.
“Training of customers on safe use of gas will be done periodically as we do not want to take anything for granted. We also want to remove the perception that gas is not safe in fact it is safer than electricity but most people are not aware of that,” said Oscar Chayika the sales and marketing executive during a tour of the outlet.
