HARARE - William Rice from Tynwald in Harare is appealing for financial support to help him get a surgical operation for a swelled abdomen that has stopped him from working for the past four years.
The 31-year-old stays with his mother, Letwin Rice and five siblings in a one-roomed house in Tynwald.
Rice said the excruciating pain is so bad that sometimes he can hardly breathe and is whisked to hospital from time to time.
Although Rice has a letter from the Social Welfare Department Harare District to get medical help for free, this has not happened as he has been asked to pay for tests and drugs.
“The tummy is heavy when I am walking and sometimes it gives me such excruciating pain that I cannot breathe. When that happens, an ambulance whisks me to hospital.
“I am not working. My mother who is also not working and looks after me has five other children to takes care of. My mother survives by doing piece jobs like laundry, ironing and tendering gardens in the neighbourhood.
“I am therefore appealing to well-wishers to help me with money to get the fluids inside my abdomen drained. The tummy has been expanding since 2017,” said Rice.
Those who can help Rice may contact Tarisai Mavetera on 0772217997.
