Headman Rhantasi Robert Bonolo Nare (50) under Chief Mathe has died. Rhantasi passed away on Friday last week at his homestead after suffering from an eye complication and severe headache for over two years, his sister Keikametsoe Made has confirmed.
"We have lost a pillar in the family, he was now more of a father to us since the passing on of our biological father in 2014. He kept us united as a family and was good in solving family problems in accordance to our culture. He suffered from an eye complication and headache for over two years until he couldn't endure the pain," said the sister.
Rhantasi was laid to rest at Mashaba in Gwanda South on Wednesday last week.
The Minister of State for Mat South and MP for Gwanda South, Abedinico Ncube who also attended the funeral said the ward 19 community lost a humble and God fearing man who was also a ZANU PF loyalist.
Rhantasi took over as headman in 2014 after the death of his father. He did his primary education at Mashaba Primary School in Gwanda South before proceeding to Halisupi Secondary School in Gwanda South. He worked in Botswana until 1987 when he came back home.
He is survived by his wife Sibonisiwe Ncube and one daughter and four grandchildren.
