ZVISHAVANE – Trust Mpofu (25), a man suspected of being behind a spate of goat thefts in the Siboza area of Zvishavane has been arrested.
Mpofu of Mbomola Village under Chief Masunda was remanded in custody to December 24 after he pleaded not guilty to stealing Isaac Mapepa's goat.
He appeared before Magistrate Archie Wochiunga.
The State said that on November 18 at around 5am at Mujaya Village, the complainant was advised by a neighbor that her dogs had brought a goat hide at her homestead similar to the complainant's.
The complainant went to a nearby bush and found the place where the goat was slaughtered.
He then made some investigations at Siboza Business Center where he found out that the meat had been sold to Beauty Mutopa who runs a kitchen at the business center.
Some of the meat had already been cooked. Beauty revealed that Trust Mpofu and Richard Mpofu sold her the meat leading to Mpofu's arrest. The meat had a total value of $80.
