ZVISHAVANE – A woman from Chief Mazvihwa’s area died a painful death after two alleged robbers from the same area bundled and threw her down a disused mine shaft before clearing her house of valuables.
Gladys Zembeti was thrown down the shaft on December 21, 2017.
Tatenda Ngwenya (22) and Givemore Matumba (25) both from Mazvihwa appeared before Resident Magistrate Archie Wochiunga on Monday 21 January this year facing charges of murdering Zembeti.
It is the State case that on December 21, 2017 the accused went to the now deceased’s homestead and assaulted her with open hands. They then proceeded to throw her into a disused mine shaft that was nearby.
