Mwenezi rising star releases maiden album

     Eliphas Tasiyara

Eliphas Tasiyara (32) popularly known as ‘Tasso Mujudah’ of Rutenga, Mwenezi has released his first Sungura album titled Wrong Time.
The album was released on December 14 last week. Tasiyara’s album has eight tracks which are: Wrong Time, Zimbabwe, Nyashadzashe, Vaneropa remari, Mhiko yerudo, Mwana wedangwe, Rufu and Munamato.
He started compiling songs for this album in 2012 until he completed the eight tracks which he believes will be received well by his fans as he put a lot of effort in the project.
“The album should be out by Friday if everything goes according to plan, it’s just that funding is a challenge at the moment,” said Tasso Mujudah in an interview with The Mirror before the release of his album.
He also said that for now he cannot afford to do an album launch because he has not yet found a sponsor but will however, use social and mainstream media to market his new album. “I haven’t found someone to sponsor me but I am hoping that in January I would have made some money to officially launch my album,” he said.
Tasso Mujudah started his solo music career in 2013 after he had been a backing vocalist for Mwenezi Stars from 2012 to 2013.
He said he is inspired by artists like the late greats Leonard ‘Musorowenyoka’ Dembo, Tongai ‘Dhewa’ Moyo and Paul ‘Dr Love’ Matavire.
Mujudah says he wants to revive sungura music in Mwenezi and be like the late great Dr Love who was from Maranda and manged to put the district on the musical map during his hey days with Jairos Jiri Band and later the Hit Machine.
